What is your role at Jobs2Careers? Describe a typical (or memorable!) day on the job.
As the Executive Assistant to the CEO, my job is to ensure that Bruce (Ge, Jobs2Careers’ CEO) is able to spend his time as efficiently as possible. This could mean anything from taking care of scheduling meetings to engaging with our vendors and collecting information so that he is able to make a quick final decision. I assist with HR, bookkeeping, travel, conferences, and making sure that the company officers are always informed.

From your education, previous employments or life experiences, what do you feel best prepared you for your current role at Jobs2Careers?
I think that being a part of my college volleyball team is one of the most valuable experiences that I’ve had. It taught me about what it means to be on a team, and how valuable a good leader and hardworking teammates can be. Go Bears!

What is the best part of your job?
I love being able to interact with all of the different departments here. Everyone on our team is the best in their field and I constantly feel like I’m learning and growing professionally. We have a great culture of training and sharing knowledge.

What is your favorite snack/lunch from the Jobs2Careers kitchen?
I eat way too many bags of Gardettos from the Jobs2Careers kitchen. I try to balance it out by avoiding any drinks with sugar, but a good old fashioned Coke every few weeks is a nice treat.

If you were immortal for one day, what would you do?
We were actually just talking about this at lunch today! I’d probably go skydiving – It terrifies me, but knowing nothing bad could happen would help.

What is the best gift you’ve ever been given?
This would have to be the graduation present that my family gave me – a trip to Southeast Asia. I had so much fun and will probably never have a whole month with so few responsibilities as that time right after graduating.

How many countries have you traveled to?
I’m counting 15 at the moment!

What is the best advice you can give to job seekers?
I think that it is so important to focus your job search energy on applying to jobs for which you qualify. From my experience, sending out resumes isn’t a numbers game; it’s “quality over quantity.” Instead of mass emailing your resume, really spend time on a few specific, individualized cover letters and tailor your resume for jobs that your skillset matches. Take a look at the list of “requirements” for the job, make sure that you meet most of them and that your resume reflects that. Those will be the first things that the hiring manager checks for when they receive your application.
